Leisure Marine knows about marine motors, but even with modern motors and technology we are not infallible. Sure, you can hook up a computer to a modern unit and see a list of faults codes, but that will not indicate, for example, that the previous owner ran the gearbox without oil and that is why it is on the market, conveniently topped up, of course.
With an older motor the lottery is even more open, and even compression tests and an experienced ear and eye combination cannot really guarantee a winning ticket.

How do we solve the problem? In reality we take a gamble on your behalf based on our knowledge and experience and we usually give a limited warranty for three months, during which we will provide the labour to fix any fault and the customer undertakes to purchase any required replacement parts, a 50/50 deal. Sometimes a used motor may still be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty, and provided that warranty is transferable and provided the service history is up-to-date and documented, then maybe a winning ticket is drawn. Remember, we are on your side, we want you to keep coming back to Leisure Marine and so we are going to try our hardest to ensure your satisfaction.
Marine outboard motors are incredibly reliable, and run for years despite all manner of abuse, but in the end they will all finish up in Davy Jones’ Locker*. We will try our hardest to ensure that your purchase is not the end of that particular line, because we want you to come back and buy another motor, another boat, like so many customers before you have done so successfully

*(also Davy Jones’s Locker, is an idiom for the bottom of the sea: the state of death among drowned sailors and shipwrecks. It is used as a euphemism for drowning or shipwrecks in which the sailor(s)’s and/or ship(s)’s remains are consigned to the bottom of the sea).

Leisure Marine, The Ultimate Boat Shop
In 1982 we first used the phrase, ‘we care about better boating’ and that phrase tells best why we are The Ultimate Boat Shop to our customers, many of whom return year-after-year for service and boat-after-boat as they upgrade, in some instances eight boats later and still having fun on the water. Caring means more than just order-taking; at Leisure Marine we want you, plus friends and family, to enjoy hassle-free boating and water related fun, and we take the trouble to ensure that when you get to the water we have done all we can to equip you for maximum fun in safety. For Leisure Marine, ‘we care about better boating’ means we worry about things that you might overlook in the excitement of buying your boat (think wheel bearings, think impellers, think safety, think paperwork, think warranty registration, think…….an endless list) and it means that we are there if something does go wrong----no unanswered e-mails or phones from The Ultimate Boat Shop, just the most helpful attitude you will find in the boating industry.

Leisure Marine has the knowledge and experience to be The Ultimate Boat Shop for you, whether you want performance, the biggest catch, the highest wakeboard jump or a quiet party-barge-sundowner, you can rely on us for the best advice and the best product.
